How to Create eBooks That Sell

So you want to create your own ebook... but you don't know how to make them sell or even if your ebook is something your prospects or customers are interested in.

Writing and marketing your own book may seem like a difficult and confusing task but it can be a simple and quick process but only if you know what you're doing.

Knowing what to write about, what content to include, how to market your ebook, how to package your information and doing research to see if your book is something people would even be interested in buying are all vital if you want to publish your book.

The First Critical Step

Before you write a single word or brainstorm ideas for your book, you should make the first critical step - and that's simply research.

Yes, without proper research you can end spend days brainstorming ideas then weeks writing out your book only to find out that nobody was interested in buying your ebook.

And even if you knew that your subject was a hot topic, you need to understand what kind of information about the topic your audience wants to learn within the book.

If you fail to obtain this information, you'll end up with alot of bad reviews, angry customers, and emails asking for a refund which will only result in losing your profits and damaged credibility.

So how do you go about getting your data? More about that in a second, but first...

Is Your Book Marketable?

The next thing you have to think about is to find out if your book is marketable.

Do you have a plan to market your book? What kind of distribution and marketing channels do you plan to use to get your word out? Will you use the search engines, partner with other entrepreneurs, buy advertising?

How heavy is the competition? Is your budget enough to successfully compete or thrive amongst your competitors?

These are all questions you need to do your due diligence on because chances are somebody has written a book on the same topic and may even have a dedicated publishing business on the subject.

Step-by-Step Plan To Launch Your Book

Now that you know you need to do your research and develop your marketing plan. Here's a simple plan to launch a successful book.

- Visit internet forums on the topic and read the conversations people are having. Find out their biggest issues and challenges. Narrow them down and set up polls.

- If you have a email list or a small community of readers who you write to on a related topic, send them a survey asking them what their biggest problems, questions and topics they want covered in the book. Surveymonkey.com is a great service to do this (surveys will give you all the info to write a book people want and discover if they're interested in buying).

- See if other books on the topic are being sold on amazon.com. Many publishing companies have spent a lot of money on research so if you see several books on the topic, it only means that it's a proven seller.

- Go to google and find websites that are related to your topic. See if you can buy out ads or even have them market your book for a cut of the profits.

- Think about advertising with pay-per-click such as Google Adwords and Yahoo Search. If the costs are too expensive, think about article marketing and SEO.

- Write a mini report on the subject and release it in a forum. Gauge people's interest and response to make changes and listen to what people want.

With a laid out plan like this, you're sure to have a ebook that sells. Most people are sold on the greatness of their idea and waste a ton of time and money only to get frustrated when they see their efforts fail. This is a surefire plan to make sure that this doesn't happen to you.
